Never Let a Programmer Drive Your Car!

A system manager, a hardware engineer and a programmer were sent to represent their company at a conference in Switzerland at a mountain ski resort.

They hired a car to drive from the airport into the mountains. The scenery was wonderful and at one point they had to descend a steep twisty mountain pass.

Alas the demands of the road on the hire car (clearly not a BMW) were too great and the brakes failed. The vehicle ran out of control gaining speed all the way, barely managing many of the tight "S" bends and hairpins as it went.

Then, by some miracle, the driver managed to pull into a layby causing only minimal damage to the vehicle. The occupants breather a huge sigh of relief any thanked their respective Gods for their deliverance.

First to speak was the system manger, "Hand me your mobile phone, I'm going to call for a tow truck". The hardware engineer replied, "There's no need for that, I'll open the bonnet and see what caused the brakes to fail".

The programmer was clearly in deep thought. After a small delay he pronounced his diagnosis, "That shouldn't happen, it's never happened before. Let's go back up the hill and see if we can replicate the problem!"
