| A W Autotech | Aberdeen | Kevin, 01224 643251. | 22/08/06: Kevin Arthur has left Tredwise and now resides here. I'm
sure all his customers will follow him:-)
Also: 06/01/07: Booked my car in for BMW Fluid Service and was amazed at the quality of service recieved..This has to be now Aberdeens Number 1 Indy for BMW`s. |

| Tredwise | See text. | Aberdeen | 01224 572956 | Treadwise use to have a host of five star reviews. But since one member of staff left the comments have been different. Due a threat of legal action reviews have been removed. |
| John Clark BMW | Aberdeen | 01224 335577 | Good main dealer service with experienced technicians. Main dealer
prices.
Also: Good dealer, can be pricey. Also: Expensive. Poor electrical Maintenance. Re-occurring problems! also: Some of their mechanics are very good indeed. Really well trained and competent guys. A lot of the sales staff will happily chat about e30s and 2002s to you. But not cheap. Parts guys are excellent. also: 19/03/08: after buying an m3 from them,i had it 8hrs.the front indicator and repeator was hanging out ,the cd player didnt work, both headlamp lenses wer cracked. the 1200mls servic not stamped after they said it had a full history and a bmw approved warranty . they said they would take ou the autochanger but not replace it as its not a bmw part and they wont fit another ??? 20grand car and thats wat they say ??. come on even a dodgy dealer in a back street can treat customers better than that. im sick of the car after 8 hrs.you would think going to bmw dealer you would get 110%, think my trade in was much better than there m3 . very unhappy with the dealer service tonight. grrrr . |
|
| John Clark body shop | Aberdeen | 01224 335577 | Good to excellent work most of the time but a number of unhappy customers
too. Dealer prices.
Also: 17/04/06: Went for a paint job. Excellent service on time. Main dealer prices. |
|
| Calterdon | and and |
Inverness | 01463 236566 | Good service and reasonable prices for a main dealer.
also I have dealt with Calterdon Inverness for many new bmw's, always good trade ins. They even have free accommodation if you have to stay overnight and you come from the Islands! They even sent a mechanic to the Islands to do a recall check under warranty on my and a couple of other bmw's on the island. First class service. And: Excellent customer service attitude, but seriously let down by their workshop. Avoid their workshop like the plague! Their head mechanic (can't bring myself to use the word "technician" when talking about him), managed to damage the sills of my 5 series by incorrectly jacking it with a deep-cupped trolley jack!! He knew he'd done it but didn't have the personal integrity to own up until confronted. Also: After the rear spur gear on my 650CS motorcycle came apart at 60mph (interesting few seconds there), I was informed by BMW that it was one of the recall's to be done to my bike but I was refused access to the BMW recall report. Also: Needed an inexpensive but crucial part for my E34, Mark MacGrath in stores was happy to send out and take cash by return as switch/ credit card for 88p inc VAT and postage wasn`t sensible. Excellent customer service so sent back a fiver so he can get a pint ! |

| BM Motors | Coatbridge | ? | Excellent ex Parks of Hamilton Mechanic owns this garage. Really knows
his stuff and really professional.
Also: Now had a full and oil service for a fraction of the price of Parks. Excellent family run business, very friendly. Will be back !!!! Also: Superb service, my 320 has been serviced here for years competitive prices, high standard of repair/service. Also: 17/04/06: Did oil service on my wife's Z3 - first class work & really welcoming. Great prices. Also repaired a leaking washer bottle on Z3. Would recommend to anyone. Also: 01/06/07: Swapped my shocks + springs on my E46, excellent work, service, attitude and price. Highly Recommended Also: 02/07/07: Excellent family-run garage - the owner really knows his stuff and prices are very reasonable. Took my 316 Compact for service on a few occasions and each time the service was faultless. |
|
| Bridgend Garage | Kilwinning | ? | 05/10/07: Terrible Garage, more wrong with my car after it came out than it went in! | |
| Scott & Company | Coatbridge | 01236 434322 | Friendly Independent specialist - been using them for last 10 years
for my BMW servicing/ repairs with no problems - will only fix things if
they need fixing and will repair rather than replace!
Also: Excellent service repaired my 535 gearbox problem, quickly would recommend to anyone and I will certainly be back for my next service. Also: Quoted me £1800 for repairs including possible new engine, gearbox unit and ABS Hub. Upon second opinion it was found that the wrong spark plugs caused the engine problem (which they replaced when servicing). The gearbox needed only a service and the ABS only had a loose wire. Car repaired elsewhere for £350!! Nice people but a second opinion is recommended! |
|
| Top Gear transmissions | Rutherglen, glasgow | ? | 07/10/07: repaired my automatic s type jaguar, after the dealer ship told me i needed a new gear box, they repaired the gearbox and i have had no more problems since, far cheaper than the dealership and they knew what they where talkin about oposed to many dealer who know nothing about gearboxes. | |
| Eastern BMW | Edinburgh | 0131 467 6000 | BMW Main Dealer so expect high prices but standard of service is second
to none even will to speak to you and examine car with no appointment,
better than the other BMW specialist in town any day.
I've heard the same a few times - JGB. Also: After being mad enough to buy a brand new 530dSE after bad experience from Dunedin & Morrisons, I'm pleased to report that so far, Eastern Motors have been pretty good. The car is still under warranty, nearly two years old, but will have to wait and see. The impression I get so far is that they are reputable, and their service department treat they're staff well and they have decent career progression so it's not like I'm letting untrained monkeys loose on my car again. Also: Fine, no real complaints. Except he doesn't valet to the standards of Dunedin or give a courtesy car. Also: Very happy with the service they provided. Had a back window replaced on my Z3. The acual cost charged after fitting was less than that originally quoted prior to work being done. Well done for honesty and good customer service BMW! (Plus they chauffeured me into city centre at no additional cost). Also: My 530D is 2.5 years old & out of warranty (I imported it). I've always had it serviced by these guys and I think their customer service is superb. Anyway, the car developed a strange noise and after they took a look, it needed a new steering rack - 1000!! After fitting, the service advisor said he would fill in a claim form and send it off to BMW to see if they would contribute to the cost. 2 days later he called to say they would cover the entire cost of the part - about 750. You always get the impression that Eastern care about the level of service the offer to their customers. Highly reccomended. Also: This is the first main dealer where I have found them helpful to DIY mechanics - quite refreshing given the marque! Parts guys very helpful and take the time with you. Have also had chats with "real" mechanics, sorry, technicians, to discuss issues. Would not go past them for paid wok or parts. DJ Black Also: Good experience here - booked in for MOT - efficient - didn't feel we were being overcharged. Paid them to fix heater blower - they made a mistake - no probs - we were fitted in on the spot and fault rectified. Also: 07/09/06: Absolutely cracking guys, Service desk people are very friendly and will help with any enquiry. Proffesional when it comes to booking in car for a service. They even send you a text message to remind you to bring the car in. Free coffee and they will drop you off and pick you up if required but no courtesy car. Also best parts guys on the planet. Give you the 4 plus discount without even asking, they really know their stuff and will do anything to help you out Also: 24/04/07: I have recently bought a used 520 e39 and took it to Eastern Motors for Inspection I and general check. The cost was somewhat high as expected, but I was trully amazed by their efficiency. They have corrected many minor defects without any supplementary cost and gave me a list of the more costy repairs needed. The most impressive thing is that, when I returned to have a gearbox leakage that they have spotted repaired, I was told that the problem was less serious than was expected and the repair costed 1/3 of the initial estimation. I don't think that many other "pros" would have done that. My impression so far is that the service quality they offer is of the highest standards, while they respect their customers and guard their good reputation. |

| Dunedin BMW | and |
Edinburgh | - | After terrible service at Morrisons in Fife, I took my car to Dunedin.
They looked into the car history and replaced the cylinder head and radiator
under warranty, because of the neglect from Morrisons. Unfortunately, the
didn't fit the head correctly and after breaking down every couple of days
during on the Forth Road Bridge during rush hour in my 3 year old 5 series
it was becoming obvious they hadn't fixed the problem.
After many arguements, phone calls to BMW etc, they eventually agreed to replace the engine block, which they also got wrong. After many more arguements, they BMW finally agreed to supply a new engine block, cylinder head etc. Although these parts were under warranty, I still had to pay 1000's for other parts which Morrisons & Dunedin had mis-diagnosed and replaced. Also: Always returned my car clean. Although expensive never had any complaints. He'd even give a courtesy car. Also: Dunedin have looked after my 3 series for over 3 years since new and I can only say service has been excellent. Services much cheaper than expected and even gave free MOT last time. Also provide lift to and from workplace. Also: Bought my car approved-used from them. Since then I have had 7 visits to them in 6 months, about 3/4 of these due to bad workmanship or failure to order the correct parts. Once the last of my ongoing problems is corrected I'll be taking my BM elsewhere... a shocking lack of service, professionalism and organisation. The only good thing is my car gets cleaned when it is in. |
| Morrisons BMW | and |
Kirkcaldy | - | Avoid at all costs for servicing. On noticing my 5-series developed
a fault when the thermostat would always stay in the blue, I sent the car
there numerous times. It got so bad I was going through a litre of oil
a day. The last straw was when they returned my car after doing absolutely
no work, told me the thermostat indicator was dead centre, where it should
be, and clearly they'd lied.
I found to my cost that they had ignored various BMW recalls which would have fixed my problem under warranty, and instead cost me 1000's to keep the car on the road. There's guys are cowboys! Also: In defence of Morrison's I have found them to provide excellent service for my last 2 cars, both 530d's which I imported from Germany. My next 530d will be supplied and serviced by Morrison's and I think the no star rating that your website has given this garage is disgraceful. Has the UNIX Nerd had any of his cars serviced by this dealer or is the rating given on the two negative comments against Morrison? UNIXNERD: Nope, never tried them. Also: Bought M3 cabrio with 81k miles, from independent sales dealer in Dunfermline. It had a record of service at Morrisons at 78k. After 2 weeks, service indicator came up. BMW Aberdeen couldn't comment, but I got a bill for 1,800 to put right all the car's woes. Still not right. Also: I bought a new 525 from them I had to get rescued no fewer than 11 times in 2 years. It was some electrical fault - they had fitted a car phone, towbar and radio ariel. They gave me different diagnoses and never fixed the problem. I eventually involved a lawyer but got nowhere - had to get rid of the car. Very polite but failed to accept any responsibility. Also: Used to use Morrisons, but also found their service abysmal. They forgot to tighten spark plugs on one occasion and caused enormous backfire during a start. Subsequent breakdown with associated serious problems. 4 out 6 coils cracked due to backfire and unknown problems for weeks until I discovered the fault myself. Give them their due they accepted liability and refunded all costs (except the price of six coils). NEVER been back. |
| Motor Technik | Kirkaldy | ? | 03/09/07: Best place to take your BMW. He knows these cars inside out and is a fraction of the dealer costs. I have had a few BM's repaired there with total satisfaction every time. good friendly service too. | |
| R.W.Weaver | GLASGOW (Cathcart) | 01416377898 Ronnie or Andy | Great service and value, i've used Ronnie for the last 7 years. Happy
to give help and advice to those who like to do it ourselves, knowing that
he will get the work if it is too much or too technical for me to do.
Also: Yes Ronnie/Andy certainly know their stuff. They are very knowledgable and helpfull. I'll definately be back without a doubt. Also: Excellent service and good price. Advice is superb, but are happy to help if you want specific parts used (as with the front discs in my case). Also happy to inspect a car that you're looking at buying on the basis you'll take it back to him for servicing. That's customer focus! Also: Used them to inspect a car I was buying. Very helpful and knew his stuff. Also: The BEST!! Ronnie and Andy are BMWaholics. They are extremely knowledgeable about all things Bavarian, so long as it wears the blue and white logo. A great team, wholly committed and very competitive. Also: Another vote for Ronnie Weaver. Great service, fair prices, nice bloke. Also: Having read these comments I brought my W reg 318 compact diesel with an engine noise. They confidently diagnosed a worn brake servo vacuum pump which they replaced. Alas the noise was still there. Then replaced a related (drive cog?) again with confidence that this was the problem. Having paid about £250 (memory?) I thought that I was up the Swanny without a paddle....NOT SO!! I was given a full refund with the comment "If we don't fix it.You don't pay".....In 35 years I have never experienced such integrity in a garage. I will definately use them again. (PS When the actual problem was identified they couldn't fix as a required BMW tool was prohibitively expensive) Also: These guys (Ronnie and Andy) really are the holy grail of owning, running, servicing and repairing BMW's ! Alway happy to share their knowledge of BMW's by offering advice (which has always been free! .. so far :)) Rates are very reasonable, and work has always been been done to very high standard. Please add these comments to your site, as Ronnie and Andy work hard and deserve the good feedback ! Also: Had a good bit of work done with these guys and I couldn't recommend them higher - they have kept my faith in BMW Also: Brill, service great prices. These guys know there BMWs one of the best garages out there. Luckily i live less than 5 miles from him :oD If you live in Glasgow you must use this garage. Also: based on this website used them for servicing, they were excellent both in price and knowledge, would recommend to anyone especially those wanting high quality job done Also: 07/03/06: I'm a new owner of a 320i SE (Y plate). On buying the car from a well known national used/new car company I was advised that all was well and to enjoy motoring. Nice. After reading the comments on this site and within the 30 day warranty I took the car to R.W Weaver and had a full inspection carried out at a very reasonable price. After inspection I was advised of 5 issues that required attention. One was in the cabin which I had missed completly, one was incorectly fitted anti roll bar bushes that had been fitted 4 days earlier, one was an air con fault, one was an incorectly set service counter and the other was some cosmetic bodywork issues. These are about to be taken care of after Andy advised them of the error of thier ways. The amount of cash saved on these five issues is far in excess of what the inspection cost. Ronnie also advised me to take the car back for a further inspection at no additional cost when the work has been carried out. My opinion is that these guys, Ronnie, Andy and Dave are very knowledgable in what they do and are very customer focused. With thier help David took on Goliath and won. Also: 06/03/06: First time user of Weavers, was a bit nervous but Ronnie was absolutely fantastic and they fixed everything that I had asked for. They know their stuff and probably give the quality of service that BMW dealers are supposed to provide - engineering skills not coffee. I'll be back... Also: 08/05/07: After reaing comments on this site took my new (to me) E39 540i for an inspection. Recieved top advice and they fixed an airbag light problem for free. Would recommend to all in Glasgow area. Also: 16/07/07: Just took my E34 M5 to them after reading all the good things on here. Delighted to say they lived up to the excellent reputation - Andy was working alone and done a sterling job on the car - major surgery! |

| Ricky Gauld Motor Engineering | Huntly, Aberdeenshire | 01466 780190 | Top guy, seriously knows what he's doing. Loves BMW's but deals with all sorts of performance vehicles. Very reasonably priced too! | |
| Gillies Automotive | Inverness | 01463 224500 | Bosch wiz. Services my E30 m3. Excellent technician Thoroughly professional. | |
| J Cruickshank BMW Specialist |
Inverness | 01463 718119 | Needed rear caliper changed, pronto, was recomended this Independant
BMW specialist. Great workmanship - had 11 years at local main dealer,
and 7 years now as independant, gives good advice, & price.
Also: Excellent, just did a head gasket for me. He made sure I knew that it might be the water pump only. Did the whole job at the price he quoted, I was very pleased with the service. Also: Excellent service and pricing, knows bmw's inside out, only place in town i would take my m5, main dealer is a joker Also: 23/06/06: Brilliant! Highly recommended and knows his onions. Also: 13/08/06: Jimmy knows his stuff...he does all the real technical and difficult repairs which Calterdon can't and usually will not tackle. Tells you the truth...no waffle. ....trust Jimmy to do a good job....he does more repairs than Calterdon...not just changing oil/filter...good prices..I recommend him without hesitation Also: 22/03/07: Excellent service and attitude. Took my beloved 530d A Sport and returned it after a Inspection 1 including a full brake fluid change for £111 in October 06. I'd go back in a minute . . . also: 16/10/07: recently had my m5 repaired and motd excellent service and workmanship as ever from jimmy and his brother Also: 24/10/07: Jim really knows his stuff. Great prices and good honest service. The only mechanic up here who gets near my car !! |
|
| Harry Fairburn | Glasgow | 0141 638 6522 | Car in for engine service work and came out with totally different
coil springs on!! Shocking i`d say..xcuse the wee pun.
Also: Abysmal & expensive. The car was dirtier than when it went in and I believe had different tyres put on bald! Also: Put my car in for a service and they forgot to tighten my brake bleed nipples, drove home 25 miles luckily didnt have to use brakes, only noticed when we saw fluid on my garage floor. Also: inspection 2 service ended up at £1000 engine management light fixed at cost of £200 came back on within the hour Very thorough service...change everything they can without prior notice !!! Also: 15/04/06: I had a years warranty and every fault that occured could not be found. After putting car through service the timing was off and the car started cutting out. 9 days before the warranty expired I arranged for the car to be booked in to fix these faults but because they were busy and could not fit me in until after the warranty expired, they said it didn't matter that I had notified them of the problems prior to the warranty expiring, it was my fault for not booking it in earlier. Even when I pointed out that the faults had just appeared they said they would have to contact BMW to see if they would honour the warranty. Very dismissive especially Bill Ray their service manager who got very flustered and aggressive. Also: 02/06/06: My old P reg 316 went in for a routine service. After they did some work on the brake pipes which invloved taking the petrol tank out they did not fix the petrol tank back on properly and i drove home with petrol pouring out the bottom of the car until i noticed. On the phone they actually tried to say it was not related and tried to charge me for fixing it! I never went back! Also: 12/09/06: I recently had a diagnostic done by HF which showed a faulty bonnet sensor on my SMG E46 M3. I booked the car in well in advance to allow for ordering the part as there was a delivery time. I duly turned up on the day (There was nowhere to park all spces occupied by sales cars !!!) went to the service desk and found that the part had not been ordered and that there was no record of a booking for the car. Seems to me these guys are more interested in selling cars but not providing aftersales care. The service manager was supposed to call me, but I never received any call. I would not recommend this dealer. Suffice to say I felt strongly enough to warrant a letter to BMW. Also: 28/11/06: Took my E46 for a coolant change asked if he would also perform a pressure check cause the coolant was a little low. Phones me up saying ive got a radiator leak and it needs replaced at £375 + VAT! I say leave it for now but to change the coolant anyway, and he says "are you sure could go at any time?!", was wary of main daelers but left it anyway. So i take it to a mechanic i know who specialises in radiators, who tells me theres no leak that he can find but just to keep an eye on the level. 2 weeks now and hasn't required any top ups, and running perfectly. Absolutely scandalous, lying about a problem just to get money out of you, will never go back. also: 28/09/07: Went for an agreed test drive of the new X5. arrived on time with all my proof of ID to be told that my current signature didnt match that on my driving licence from twenty years ago! Produced a passport, a MOD 90 ID card and utility bill to be turned away. Also pointed out that I was leaving my Disco 3 SE and car key with them for the day. Left lost for words...Called later (twice) to speak to the showroom manager to complain and was told to call head office by a very up-her-own arse receptionist. Unacceptable but explains why their forecourt is full of unsold cars!!! Your lose (about £45K) you bunch of idiots! |
|
| Menzies Motors Ltd | and |
Stirling | 01786 474477 | I once gave my E36 to their bodyshop to be repaired and they offered
me a complimentary courtesy car. On picking up the car they decided to
charge me for the courtesy car stating that the girl at the counter made
a mistake in telling me it was complimentary. They refused to waive the
charge.
The damage to my car covered the front door, rear door and rear wing. They quoted me for the full repair which I accepted but when I picked up the car they had not touched the damage to the rear wing, claiming that it was not part of the same job. A good friend of mine went to Menzies to finalize the purchase of a new 3 series. When the salesman relized that my friend currently drove a Mondeo, he exclaimed "do you realize that going from a ford to a BMW is going to cost you a significant amount of money" In a nutshell, Terrible service, terrible work and terrible attitude. There are a number of extremely good BMW dealers in Central Scotland leaving no need to use Menzies. I now use Eastern in Edinburgh and am very happy with them. Also: A total rip off! Also: Bought new 3 series coupe and a mile from garage front sidelight fell out. Took six attempts to fit new lights to both sides, but they were still loose. No complaints about attitude, but they do seem to charge over the odds for new cars and I'm assuming second hand will be the same. Also: Very poor customer care. My 320d tourer went in due to having some problems starting, car is 2 1/2 years old and no warranty as is an import. Menzies could not find any fault and billed me for £70 one hours labour. Fault remained and after car going in again found a problem with the injectors that have to be replaced at £600! BMW UK are covering price of part but Menzies not covering price of labour, even though they charged me £70 for not finding the problem two days before!! Also: Could not even diagnose worn shock absorbers on rear of E36 Also: 29/03/06: I have purchased many cars from all over the BMW network and i am shocked to read the reports about Menzies. I would just like to say that since finding Menzies I would never send any of my BMW's anywhere else for service or repair. Thier aftersales service is second to none and headed by a profesional management team who run a very tight ship, I have had a few minor complaints but hey these guys are only human. Also: 18/11/06: complete joke of a garage.because am young they think they can say anything and i believe them. My 328i sport coupe and i had a small bump and gave it 2 them to quote for work. They quoted me £3500 to repair after a week of being there.I thought this to be a bit expensive so picked it up the next day to get repaired at another garage for £750.When i went collect it from menzies they charge me £150 for the quote which i knew about and an extra £90 for storege which they never once said about. Had a insp 1 service last week.We arrange a price which i thought to be ok and they picked the car up from ma house which was great and for no extra charge. They phoned me up to say it was done and how was i paying which was fine.10 mins later they phoned back because there driver reported a banging noise was coming from the front wheel. They acused me of putting 1 wheel stud that was to long on onof the wheels and said they replaced it and wanted 2 charge me £5.I don't understand how they a car has never had this problem till it goes into a so called high class garage. They showed me the bolt and it was 1 that i have never seen before.I am sure they lost 1 and tried to blame me. KEEP AWAY FROM THIS GARAGE AS IT IS RUN BY MONKEYS AND AM NOW LOOKING FOR A NEW GARAGE. also: 10/01/08: Sent my paperwork to the wrong address and refused to speak to me over the phone. I never thought there could be so much trouble taking a car to Northern Ireland. Would not go near them again. |
| Grassick's | Perth | - | Main dealer prices but very thorough and helpful - they even gave me
a lift to work.
Also: Check out their tyre prices - I've yet to find anywhere cheaper. And: Was in looking for a used BMW,couldnt have been more helpful. Visited Aberdeen and Inverness in work clothes might as well been the invisible man.Know where I will be buying Also: Bought my new 530 sport (petrol) from them and had previously used them after giving up on Duneden and Morrisons. They are the best! Friendly, helpful and professional at all times. Prices as one would expect, but worth every penny for peace of mind. Agree with the previous comment re tyres too.. A dealership that all garages should aspire to. |
|
| Henry Bros | Glasgow | - | DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS GARAGE. They are a disgrace to the BMW marque
with an absoluetly horrifying lack of interest, professionlism and responsibility.
My 8 series went in for a misfire and on the drive home the car overheated due to a rad hose not being replaced (nearly head gasket incident) and the exhaust damaged where it had been backed into. They claimed that all of this was all my fault and was perfect when it left the dealership 15 miles earlier. Cannot believe they get away with this. Probably OK at selling cars - but their service and integrity is shocking Also: Can only agree with other sentiments. I had a new 320d which kept playing up - it took henry bros 3 separate attempts over 6 weeks to find a fault (fuel pump) After they said it was fixed the car started to fill with diesel fumes due to some hose or other being wrongly connected. And NO apology. In frustration i decided to sell the car only to find the sales staff even more dismissive and unhelpful- no sale. Also: 320D touring was taken in by my wife and she explained poor fuel consumption. When she picked the car up that evening she was told by service reception that no fault could be found!!! When the bloke who handed her the keys outside passed comment about how he'd been working on her car earlier and replaced injectors and pump. Some no fault found. Also: 27/04/0: BMW Mini owners should avoid this dealership too! My BMW Mini One went in for 10,000 mile service. It came back from that with the gear shift feeling loose and damaged. I made a complaint about this, and was told that no fault was found and there was nothing wrong with the car (reception). The guy who handed back my keys outside told me that there was definately something "strange" about the gear change. It began jumping out of first gear from standstill. I demonstrated this for the mechanics who told me "You didn't put it properly into gear, sir." They didn't seem to find my argument convincing that I'd had 25,000 problem-free miles on the car PRIOR to their working on the car. Also, problems with a squeal coming from the car at low speed (under 15 miles an hour). This also materialised just after a visit to Henry Bros BMW. They diagnosed the problem as brake squeal (even when not braking). Was told that my brake pads needed replacing and possibly my disks... perhaps also sir, the brake calipers are not releasing. If it was the pads, then I would have been happy to pay for that... but they're still looking very healthy and are not worn down. The brake disks should never be damaged unless you wear your brake pads to the point where it's metal-on-metal. This is not the situation and I resisted forking out for that one. If it's the brake calipers not releasing then I think it's definately a warranty job... Henry Bros disagrees and says that the car's brakes are not covered in my warranty. After a small bump in the car (someone rear-ended me while I was at standstill) Henry Bros repaired the car. The bodywork looked ok, but looking under the car, despite them billing the other guy's insurance company for new parts, it would seem that they tried to panel-beat the old parts back into shape and re-fit them to my car. I sent it back and demanded that they fit the new parts that had already been paid for unless they wanted me to inform the insurance companies of their fraudulent behaviour. Am currently looking for another dealer who will be more honest with me. Also: 17/09/06: After an accident to my 316i saloon, which required a new steering rack, they were unable to align my car correctly. I had to contact them on many occasions. I insisted that they check it on another BMW dealer's KDS machine; although they agreed to do it and told me that the job was done, I coincidentially found out (six months later!) that they had lied to me and nobody had looked at the car... The other Glasgow BMW dealer had lied as well... Fed up with them, I had my car checked by a BMW dealer in England: they diagnosed that the steering rack fitted by Henry Bros was faulty; they replaced it free of charge within warrantee and correctly aligned my car. My car drives now superbly! Also: 19/01/07: car came out after service with dent in door denied by garage also big cut in transmission tunnel which they eventually owned up to.Fault with rear wiper still not repaired after 3 visits, fault with seat not repaired after three visits.Staff are arrogant ,unhelpfull and Never ever ever call you back DO NOT EVER USE THIS GARAGE BY A LADA INSTEAD. There must be a test that Henry Bros staff have to pass on uselessness before employment. Now taken over by Douglas Park so may be changes but doubt it. |

| John Clark Tayside | Dundee | - | Main dealer, so not cheap, but servicing and fault finding A1, explained
everything, loaned me a brand new 530i for 2 days! Valeting not great,
didn't vacuum the boot and didn't clean the engine bay as I'd asked.
Also: 26/03/07: Fixed leaking fuel tank on my 540i 1995 very quickly at a reasonable cost. Repaired PDC for free. Good 4+ Discount. Oil Service done properly. Very good fault finding also: 30/09/07: Bought a second hand 5 series from another garage and took it to jc. They gave a full report and sorted out an inspection one and two on the car. The time spent on the report was worth the cost of the service. Subsequently bought a new (to me) shape 5 series - had a few issues with it - but all dealt with without drama. They might not be the cheapest - but, you know where you are with them. Would use again! also: 20/02/08: i had my 318 ci in for caliper and brakeswhich was renewed by them .two weeks after same problem and went back they said i need them replaced. very bad service ,very expensive and most important not trustable, they rip you off basiclly ,even tell you to change things that ur car doesnt need never again |

| JK Frame | also: |
Milngavie, Glasgow | Jim or Kenny Frame | These guys are the business. They know and work with all of the 'top'
marques. They do bodywork and servicing.
Very competent, knoweldgeable, helpful, friendly and honest as the day is long. I'll be back and I'd recommend them wholeheartedly. Also: Not impressed. Didn't fix fault, and didn't know they hadn't! Not keen to issue receipts. I wonder why?? Also: Not very impressed for my 318. Service was OK but did not sound like very trustworthy. Not very cheap either. |
| Benzcar | Tollcross, Glasgow | Jamie Doyle, 0141-778-8580 | Been using Jamie now for over two years for my 7's. Knowledgeable and
honest independent. Ex- BM mechanic. Only problem he is always busy, so
need to book well ahead.
also: 05/05/08: Excellent Service and price. Been using Benzcar since finding this site and as well as excellent prices they are very nice people with excellent experience with Beamers! |
|
| Owen Ferry Automotive | Paisley, Renfrewshire | 0141 848 5773 | A thorough reliable excellent value for money garage. His workmanship
puts the bigger garages to shame, not to mention is customer service.
Also: 08/03/06: Good diagnostics service, helpful guy with nice premises and good attitude. Also: 01/06/06: Absolute honesty, reliability and utter professionalism. Oh and top prices too :) Owen loves cars and it shows :) also: 20/10/07: competant and cheap, replaced my e38 tank with a refurbed one, changed the battery and ran a diags on the computer for £700 odds inc labour, even had enough initative to change a couple of wee parts while working on it to save repeat visits, will defo use again. |
|
| Hart Motors | Clydebank | - | 25/02/06: Ex - BMW mechanic now specialising in BMW/Merc/Audi. Clean
workshop, reasonable prices, high quality service and car returned gleaming
inside and out.
I've only used twice so far hence the four stars, will re-rate after next inspection. Also: 02/05/07: Small garage (3 man?). Serviced my 320 (88) and my wife's 320 (95) for several years now. Excellent, helpful, average price. Cars returned spotless. |
|
| M3 Motor Company | Bathgate | - | 25/04/06: Has serviced and maintained my 4.4 X5sport for the last 2
1/2 years. Seems to know BMW's very well, independant specialist, maintains
up to date diagnostic equipment and very reasonably priced.
I'm just about to buy a 535 to complement the X5, I'll be taking that there too. I've lots of confidence in M3's work which I dont have for in local edinburgh & glasgow BMW dealers after some bum steers just after I bought the X5. M3 provide a comforting personal touch. Also: 03/10/06: Excellent attention to detail. Had suspension refit and fuel tank repair done on E38 - no problems, came under estimate. Would gladly recommend. |
|
| Forthway Garage | Glenrothes | - | 05/05/06: Absolutely appalling service from front desk to repair service
to Manager.
Took 3.5 weeks to diagnose and repair an ECU unit fault on a car less than 2 years old and charged £600 for the priveledge. This was the 3rd car that I had bought from them and it will be the last. It will also be the last time I ever have any dealings with them whatsoever. |
|
| Lorimer and Findlay | and |
Glasgow | Peter Lorimer 0141 950 6688 | 29/06/06: Absaloutely top notch. I have used their services since buying
my Porsche 944 from them four years ago. The have looked after all my cars
upto and including my present X plate E38. Service is first class as is
the attention to detail. Walking into a garage and seeing nothing less
than a Testarossa on the ramp proves these guys know they prestige cars!
Peter Lorimer himself is both Porsche and jaguar trained. They have been
in business for over 15 years. They deal with everything from Aston Martin
to Rolls Royce including our beloved BMW's of all ages and models. Rate
are reaonable, however you dont object to paying for good quality service.
They are upfront and honest, wont bullshit you and wont do any unrequired
work. Any work needed done to your car will be cleared with yousrself first
and the costs explained.
Also: 05/02/07: Run by Peter Lorimer a guy who is a Porche Jaguar and Bmw specialist i would now not let a dealer near either of our two BMW an E46 and an E39 no bull just real quality workmanship at a totally fair price. Using the real parts Peter does the job to a very high standard cant fault them. Also: 11/07/07: Never mind what anyone else says, worst garage in Glasgow in my opinion. Overpriced and utterly useless. Took three days to fix a simple fault on my car and charged way over the odds! also: 08/09/07: Took my Rs4 in for an inspection as i was tired of Audi ripping me of, was returning to the garage to collect when i personally witnessed my own car being driven at speeds over 100mph + by Lorimer himself. |
| Cumming Automotive | Glasgow | - | 26/02/07: These guys are excellent! I took my BMW compact in recently and they offered me the choice of BMW or cheaper parts before getting a detailed quote which they actually stuck too! | |
| M-Tek Services | Glasgow | - | 31/07/07: repaired my x5 auto box at a decent cost,works great again | |
| Abercorn Electrics | Paisley | - | 14/04/07: I had a severe electical problem with my 1996 BMW 540i, cyliders
6 and 8 were misfiring when i put the car through its paces and the car
would trip onto emergency mode. I took the car to several garages some
of them on this with 5 star reports and they were stumped and my car was
off road for weeks. I done a little research to find Abercorn Electrics
in Paisley (sean) this guy is a genius at fault diagnosis and has some
pretty meaty diagnosis tools, within 2 days he isolated the problem to
the injector spray of the cylinder and my car was fixed.
also: 17/04/08: I had a problem with EML which few other garages couldn't fix but this guy was determined to find a solution,he really knows his stuff.Highly recommended, excellent service and fair prices. |
|
| Deutsch Marque | Edinburgh | - | 29/07/06: These people are diabolicle service with a grunt poor workmanship
teamed with very high prices @ your peril.
Also: 07/09/06: Quoted me £25 dearer for an inspection 1 on my M3 than my local Easten BMW main dealer !!! I was looking for a second hand 330 touting pre face lift. No we don't have any I was told and immediately found one outside. They failed to believe I owned an M3 and treated me with disrespect even though I actually knew more about BMW than the sales people did Also: 19/02/07: Terrible service. My beatiful old 525i (e28) went in to have the valves adjusted and came out with the alloys jet washed to hell. Manager would not accept any responsibilty for the damage....increedibly rude. Another example of salesmen only interested in you if you are spending £35k on a new car. Disgrace to the BMW name Also: 12/03/07: This bunch of totally incompetent grease monkeys took 3 months to fix my 320d at the cost of £2997 not to mention the cost of hire cars. I had to plead for a curtsy car which I eventually got 1 month after they began the repair, a 1994 Volvo 850 with bald tyres and all the warning lights flashing. And what was wrong with the BMW? The injection pump needed replaced, I believe that should take no more than a couple of days. They, so called, ran into other problems, a lack of brain power perhaps? Phone calls were unsuccessful, so I eventually started writing emails and sending letters by recorded mail none of which they had the face to reply to, although the threat of a visit from trading standards sped things up. They sent the car to Paterson’s Diesels who also couldn’t fix the car. After three months I had given up worrying c’est la vie was my attitude, but I got a surprise call to say the car was ready, I picked it up and one week later it was back in again, was I surprised? Not really. A week after that I got it back there was some sight improvement, but now it just sits in my drive unable to start when the engine is warm not much use if you just want to pop down the shops. My advice, do you really need it after reading this? Also: 22/05/07: You need to ask yourself why they are selling cars which would normally be sold through a BMW approved second hand dealership. It's because the main dealer won't touch the cars. I bought a 320i SE which had had a rear end shunt which they didn't tell me about but which had been repaired by Eastern. It wasn't till it started to rust some years down the road that I discovered it. I wouldn't touch their cars with a barge pole!!! also: 22/09/07: Terrible service, would not honour quoted price and ended up more expensive than BMW main dealer. Do not use them. |
|
| BM Motors | Law Village, Wishaw | 01698 375146 | 06/09/06: Excellent prices and quality work. This guy really know his
stuff I have been going to him for 10 yeras and would not let anyone else
touch my cars. He has moved from Coatbridge and is now at 71 Station Rd
Law Village.
I would highly recommend him to anyone as do the BMWCC Scotland also: 10/01/08: Superb. Excellent service and real attention to detail. I won't let anyone else touch the old girl from now on. No wonder there were a line of BMW CC owners there when I arrived! |
|
| Central Garage BMW | Holytown, Motherwell | - | 20/01/08: Very reasonable service and labour rates, job well done! | |
| Motor Technology | and |
Dundee | - | 17/10/06: Very attentive, polite, and welcoming. Seem to be thorough
and pay attention to detail. Chris deals personally with every client.
Prices very good.
Also: 21/02/07: Stay away!.Wanted an MOT-quoted £600 for "essential" repairs. Car passed MOT next day elsewhere without needing anything doing. Spent the money on a playstation instead! Also: 16/07/07: An honest mechanic with attention to detail and reasonable prices. Would recommend over any overpriced BMW service garage. |
| Kirk Street Autos | also: |
Dundee | - | 06/04/07: Highly recommended. This guy knows his BMWs and will go out
of his way to get your car looking and running like it should.
also: 18/01/08: Stay away of this incompetent garage and mechanics, especially Jiff. Brought my BMW 5 series for a few repairs, namely: coil spring replacement and handbrake cable replacement. When I got the car, this is what I found: 1. Parcel shelf broken fitments (all). 2. Missing screws and clips in the parcel shelf and back seat area. 3. Wrong coil springs fitted (both). 4. Handbrake not adjusted properly. 5. Back wheel bolt missing and hub thread damaged. 6. Audio system not making any output (no sound). 7. Both parcel shelf vents are broken. Decided to inform the Trading Standards Agency about this garage and to submit an inquiry to the local police for further investigations. Staff and manager of this garage are rude and trouble makers. If you want to get rid of your car, go there. also: 26/05/08: HORRENDOUS GARAGE! STAY AWAY! Did service ok on my old 5-series, but charged ridiculous (£100s) for wiper repair, which I later discovered amounted to a 10 minute job with nothing to replace. It broke again after 1 week and I went back 4 times to have this sorted out; twice they forgot they booked me in and on the other occasions I waited hours after returning to collect only for wiper to brake again in hours. They refused to send out invoices and only take cash, and their credit/debit card machine, landline and fax is dead because they don't pay their bills. Two months and countless visits to the rude and incompetent owner and staff means I'll be going to the stealers from now on! |
| Dunedin BMW , Selkirk | Selkirk | - | 21/10/06: First Class Service department - Had my car there several times - All Services been carried out ,no problems and I recommend them .Superb | |
| Crossflags BMW | Dumfries | - | 16/07/07: Absolute waste of space since yet another change of service staff not willing to help, lack of customer skills | |
| Autotech Services | Grangemouth | - | 16/06/07: Really great service from an independent. Replaced broken coil spring at frasction of cost of main dealers in area | |
| JD Motors | Insch | - | 23/07/07: Dave is a time served BMW mechanic, now in his own garage next to Insch station, and does a great job - my Z3 isn't trusted to most people but happy for him to have it! They also do other marques and know what they ar etalikng about - and are honest enuf to say if they can't do something, or what you're asking is impractical, which makes a change!! | |
| Station Garage | Inverurie | - | 16/08/07: Top bloke! Ex Mercedes delaer mechanic but knows his BMWs too. Reasonably priced. | |
| Murieston Autos | Livingston | - | 11/06/08: Handles all makes but especially BMW. Straight talk regarding what needs done / doesn't need done / will need done soon. Very good for servicing as he does the equivalent of an Inspection 1 for an oil service and cheaper than an oil service at BMW. |
