BMW Good Servicing Guide

Time to expose the folk you'd not trust to work on an old Fiesta and praise those who love your M3 even more than you do! Views expessed here are not necessarily those of The Nerd himself so don't sue me if you don't like what you read.

A joy to deal with and good value.
Good but not perfect or maybe a bit expensive
Average.
Either poor work or very expensive.

JKC Specialist BMW Coleraine, Co Antrim 02870 355222 Small specialist dealership. Very friendly, efficient service. Did a couple of minor jobs for me and wasn't even charged a penny. Not your typical stealer dealer in that respect. Prices though can be high, but I have found any work done to be of very high standard.
Bavarian
and
Belfast 02890 381311 Probably Nothern Ireland's main BMW dealer with high prices to match. But I cannot fault the service I have had from them. High prices but high service.

Also:

Main dealer prices, but service I have found to be excellent. They only replace whats needed. Will call you and advise on progress, car was given courtesy wash and hoovering. Courtesy car offered if required, and even provide a lift service whilst your car is being serviced!

22/08/06: Northern Ireland's main dealer. Has made my many BMW ownership periods stressful, expensive and downright irritating. Tried to charge me nearly £1000 for fixing a leaking hood on a 4 year old car. Hood specialist I took it to after I refused to pay found they'd just glued the offending corner! Rear end accident on my 328i resulted in the rear PDC not working. Charged my insurance company over £1000 to...and I quote "change the wiring loom" When I asked to see evidence of this massive job - excuses and a rapidly reduced bill. Failed to reattach a rear shock during a routine service - I only noticed halfway down the road!

I short I get Prentice to collect my car now and they are in a different league. and another thing....Sales staff insisted that a 320CI was faster than my Lotus Elise!

Also:

07/01/07: Absolute rip off. Recent work on rear lights and parking sensor failed within days. They couldn't even get new front number plate to stick on properly. Also tried to charge me £250 for small job that Prentices quoted £117 for. Nice coffee and cakes though...

Belfast 028 90732193 Good BMW specialist on Ravenhill Avenue, Belfast. Sales and Service. I'm happy with the work I've had done both under RAC warranty and servicing. Cheaper than Bavarian and on a par with other specialists.

Also a 3 star rating:

Used them a couple of times for servicing and minor repair work but found that some things weren't done. Prices are good but workmanship could be better. Save your money and a headache, go elsewhere if you want better service.

Also:

20/12/06: Expensive, inability to adequately fault find or fix fault. Now looking for a competent value for money specialist BMW garage in Belfast area.

also:

29/05/07: Left E36 in for a second opinion after some dubious diagnostics from coleraine based Autozone. Work was done to A1 standard with discount on parts and labour for older vehicle.

David Prentice Portadown 08/01/06: Sent car in for servicing and was very disappointed to hear a new noise coming from the front of the car when turning. Would have thought they could have fixed this problem to save me driving 40 miles to go back again.
Moto Fix Donaghadee 15/06/07: Small specialist that has yet to let me down or overcharge. Uses BMW bits so can be expensive to buy parts, but labour rates reflects location. Good helpful attitude and not scared to tell you it doesn't need any work. Have replaced small parts at no cost because "I noticed it needed a ..."
