BMW Buyers Checklist - The Paperwork

If the vehicle has a digital odometer don't just assume blindly that the mileage is correct. Certain of the lower life forms on the planet will happily hack the DME and dial in whatever mileage they fancy. If the service history doesn't support the mileage then walk away and tell your local trading standards office before some other poor sucker gets taken in.

Check the vehicle registration documents agree with the vehicle you're looking at. If the owner says it's a 325i Sport it should say so on the documents, it may just be a lowered 325i with a body pack. Your insurance company will just love to pay up for a claim if things aren't in order!

If you're in the US and buying a grey market european import be very sure you get all the EPA/DoT paperwork.

Try to get written confirmation of any warranty you've agreed on and always make a list of those "little" faults you've been told will be fixed upon delivery.
